I somewhat agree to this. This is still being debated by people today who are huge metalheads. Well, I think Black Sabbath was our first heavy metal band, but I still think Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and others still would have been born even without Black Sabbath. There are very talented people out there who are just born with musical talent. Who said this though? Was it a frontman of another band? No, it was Slipknot's one and only Joey Jordinson. I was like WTF when I read about it. Slipknot itself isn't considered heavy metal to me but they did have metal influences. He considers them to be like the original gods of heavy music. I wonder though if there was a band that influenced the darkness in Black Sabbath. Then that band would be the original metal band. Well, that's just what I think. Jordinson had said that he remembers his parents playing Black Sabbath records (love his parents musical taste) and how he thought it was frightening and scary. I love Black Sabbath but never thought an album was scary. Eh peple are different! I love both Slipknot and Joey Jordinson. They have talent.
